I decided to go for a scary looking bat/human/cave creature, so started off creating a quick mood board of gathered pictures of particularly vampire bats and some generally creepy looking creatures.
I then took my my sketchbook again, to just get some ideas out onto the page and see what came out of it. I tired to consider the research I had done into antagonists previously and tried to incorporate some of what I had found into my own drawings and designs.
